Alice White 2:12

Alice, this is just fine, Buddy thank you.

Buddy Duquesne 2:14

And it's such an honor. You know, I've been listening to your broadcasts since, since you started. What was that two years ago?

Alice White 2:21

Yes.

Buddy Duquesne 2:22

Yes. That first broadcast was amazing. And I, you know, I wrote a letter to my uncle when I heard there was an opening here I was like, how can you get me in? Please, I just, I'd kill for an internship or anything. And lo and behold, here I am. I'm supposed to be your co host, I guess.

Alice White 2:38

Yeah. You're my co host and you are the nephew of the Emperor.

Buddy Duquesne 2:43

Yeah. And he just he thinks he just thinks so highly of me, you know, and like, who could blame him? I'm pretty great. But I'm just just such a such a big fan of the joust and of you. And wow, like, it's just so so great to be here.

Alice White 2:56

It's- Wow. Yeah. It's great. Great to have you and uh Of course anything that I can do for the, uh for the Emperor. He says jump I say how high

Buddy Duquesne 3:06

are we on? Now?

Alice White 3:08

Yes, we're live now this is going to everyone

Buddy Duquesne 3:10

I thought that the live recording sign outside of the door was just like because it was practicing I mean the joust tournament hasn't started yet.

Alice White 3:17

No It begins tomorrow and we're... This is, we're supposed to be providing an introduction of all of the knights and we're giving our listeners- our many, many listeners a chance to meet the Knights if they haven't already and get some more information about how this is going to go

Buddy Duquesne 3:36

Well that's that's great because you know I as a as a huge joust-head myself. I just I just love the joust so much. I've been I've been studying up all about the knights this year and I just can't wait for the whole week of the tournament and it's going to be just so exciting.

Alice White 3:51

I'm sorry, I'm just gonna stop you right there. Did you say joust head?

Buddy Duquesne 3:55

Yeah, I'm a huge joust head

Alice White 3:57

What is a joust head?

Buddy Duquesne 3:57

you know I've been posting to the message boards outside of my outside of my college, we have this, this board that we all just post messages on.

Alice White 4:06

Uh huh.

Buddy Duquesne 4:07

And I was like, Where's my joust-heads at? You know, just that just to see what kind of a reaction it would get and so many people started posting right right on top of it. They were like, Oh, I'm a joust-head, I'm a joust-head. So it kind of became a thing over at Bard College. And, you know, I was kind of riding through the streets today. Did you know that the city is like, really complicated?

Alice White 4:28

Yes.

Buddy Duquesne 4:30

So, so I rented a horse. You know, it was like the only horse I could get because really it's really crowded here right now because the joust is going to start

Alice White 4:36

Yes.

Buddy Duquesne 4:37

And I rented a horse and I kind of rode through the city, you know, I'm really connected to the people of the city, you know?

Alice White 4:43

Are you?

Buddy Duquesne 4:44

Yeah, you know, I've done my share of of walking around and and not talking to anybody you know, I just like to observe, observe and absorb the culture. And and I just got completely lost and I guess that's why I'm late. So sorry about that.

Alice White 4:59

No, no. It's, it's fine. You're here now,

Buddy Duquesne 5:01

but joust week is gonna be so great. I can't wait for this for this whole thing to start.

Joust, joust week did you say?

Yeah, I mean

Alice White 5:08

No, I think you've you've misunderstood. You do understand that this tournament lasts the entire month of February?

Buddy Duquesne 5:17

The... what? The whole month?

Alice White 5:19

Yes the whole month.

Buddy Duquesne 5:21

the- all of February,

Alice White 5:23

all of February,

Buddy Duquesne 5:25

every, every day in

Alice White 5:27

every day.

Buddy Duquesne 5:29

So I, I got a room at the inn for five nights... I okay.

Alice White 5:38

Well, you're going to... Yeah, I'm going to need you here every morning. For the next 29 days.

Buddy Duquesne 5:44

Okay. Yeah. I mean, I won't let you down. I'll figure something out. I'm sure... I... Geez. Okay. Yeah, maybe I could stay with you.

Alice White 5:58

Oh, no, I don't think that's going to be possible.

Buddy Duquesne 6:02

I gotta do something. You can't just leave me out on the street.

Alice White 6:04

No, I think we can just- why don't we talk about this another time? Maybe later after we're done with this broadcast. Would you, Buddy. Would you like to do the honor of introducing our first knight?

Buddy Duquesne 6:17

Oh, yeah. Okay. Yeah, I'm sure I know... This part. Okay. So the first knight in the tournament, from all the way from Hysperin mountainous deserty region. You all know him Sir Ignatius the knight of wands. He is. He's so cool, Alice. He fights with a spirit that I've never seen before. And you know, he's got that that hot temper?

Alice White 6:48

Yes, Yes, he does.

Buddy Duquesne 6:49

And I just I just love to see when he when he gets pushed too far. Sometimes it makes him make mistakes, but sometimes it's his greatest strength and that's what makes him so fascinating as a combatant. And oh my gosh, when he rides into the arena, all resplendent in purple on his banner and that plume coming off of his helmet, it's like, ah, Sir Ignatius, ahhh and you know, I've been watching this guy, like I said for the last two years, but I guess I've been missing a lot of the tournament? Anyways, he is he's great. He's gonna win this year, or he's going to try to anyways I mean, I don't want him to I mean, you know that I have, I have a favorite.

Alice White 7:36

Oh, I'm sure you do as as most people do.

Buddy Duquesne 7:40

As a joust-head I of course had to pick a favorite and cheer.

Alice White 7:44

Yes. And we do we do encourage those out there listening and, and watching the tournament to choose your favorite knight and to participate in the festivities. And I assume that you will tell us who your favorite knight is.

Buddy Duquesne 8:00

I mean I won't make it a secret Alice. I know we're supposed to be impartial and and to just convey the events as they happen but, but how can I How can I contain myself when so much awesome stuff happens so I'm just gonna share.

Alice White 8:16

Okay. All right.

Buddy Duquesne 8:17

Do you want to do you want to introduce the next knight?

Alice White 8:19

Yes, I shall introduce the next knight. Hailing from the Montebisbo region our very next knight that we're introducing is Sir Vai.

Buddy Duquesne 8:29

SIR VAIIII. Yes, Sir Vai!

Alice White 8:34

Okay. Am I mean Am I correct to assume Sir Vai that is your favorite?

Buddy Duquesne 8:37

I mean Sir Vai. She's a hero of mine. You know, the way that she just she, I mean, we come from the same region. You know, the Duquesne family has many tracts of land down there in the breadbasket kinda if you want to call it that, and Sir Vai, you know, is from there and, you know, I'd like to think that we could hang out, we've never hung out. I'd like to think we could

Alice White 9:01

Well, you know what, maybe if we do a very good job at this broadcast, maybe she will grace you with her presence.

Buddy Duquesne 9:08

I mean, that would be very cool but I don't know what I would even say other than, other than she is just such an inspiration to our entire community. I mean, she has been fighting for so long.

Alice White 9:19

I know she has, she has, she's worked very hard and I have to say her, her particular fight-fighting style. She's very creative very intuitive. It's, it's very it's a very unique thing to watch when when she takes the field all, all dressed in that beautiful blue tinted armor that yes,

Buddy Duquesne 9:44

yes, it reminds me of the blue skies and blue waters of home and it just it just takes me right back there I miss it so much.

Alice White 9:55

Oh wow, no. Okay. All right. That's... there there. How about you? How about you talk about our next night for a moment

Buddy Duquesne 10:04

Ah yes, uh. Yes, Sir Sayif of Longheim is a remarkable fighter. He has taken an oath to his sword to never use it dishonorably. Now, some may say that that makes him a limited fighter that he's unable to commit treacherous acts but

Alice White 10:26

I don't think that's true. I'm okay fine, fine. I will personally admit here that this is where my bias lies. I also hail from from Longheim and I i do favor sir Sayif to to win this tournament.

Buddy Duquesne 10:42

Now, Longheim. You're... You're so you growing, you grew up in a city?

Alice White 10:46

I did. Yes.

Buddy Duquesne 10:47

Not in the, not in the rolling hills and beautiful fields.

Alice White 10:53

No, no, that's where you're from. I'm from Longheim and so Sayif represents my region. He's an incredibly noble, very stalwart fighter. Rather, rather charismatic as well, I have to say. And I-

Buddy Duquesne 11:15

Surely you must admit that that his honor is his greatest weakness.

Alice White 11:20

I would maybe acknowledge that some people would say that but I believe that it is his greatest strength.

Buddy Duquesne 11:26

Hmm. We shall see later in the tournament.

Alice White 11:31

I suppose we shall. That's my, hmm sorry. The knight of swords.

Buddy Duquesne 11:36

Well, there is one more knight and I believe it is your turn to introduce

Alice White 11:40

Yes, yes, I'm from quite far north in the forest region of Bolcino, Sir Dunia has arrived, the knight of pentacles has pulled up into the city in his beautiful resplendent yellow chariot. There's quite quite the statement. Quite the, quite the sight to see

Buddy Duquesne 12:02

as bright as the sun itself Alice, I was blown away I saw it parked just outside of the arena. And wow, what a I mean, it's a show of the wealth of the region, right? I mean, that's what it's got to be it's a flex on the other on the other competitors.

Alice White 12:18

Yes, I agree which is pretty typical for Sir Dunia. If I can say that as diplomatically as possible

Buddy Duquesne 12:26

from I've heard he is a greedy fellow or maybe greed might not be the right word... ambitious?

Alice White 12:33

Ambitious is a is a more fair term, I believe, for public radio

Buddy Duquesne 12:40

from from what I understand and and this is totally hearsay as he is a newcomer to the tournament, but he's kind of a really stable, ordinary sort of a guy when he's fighting.

Alice White 12:57

Yes, when he is fighting you can he is got a technique that he sticks to and is is quite consistent in his, in his battles leading up to this final tournament. We will have to see if that consistency is something that will favor him when when facing the other knights

Buddy Duquesne 13:19

this is this is so cool I feel like we're actually starting to develop like a rapport is this happening? Are you see are you feeling this?

Alice White 13:27

You know what? You know what buddy? I think we can probably go ahead and make this work.

Buddy Duquesne 13:33

I'm so excited. it's time for THE JOUST!

Alice White 13:38

Yes, yes it is the joust! We will be starting tomorrow with the first match of round one. The first match of round one features the Knight of Wands versus the Knight of Cups. That will be Sir Ignatius and Sir Vai.

Buddy Duquesne 13:53

Sir Vair in the first match.

Alice White 13:54

I know. I know. Sir Vai and her direct rival Sir Ignatius. They've had quite the explosive rivalry between them and it should be a quite a, quite a start to the tournament.

Buddy Duquesne 14:09

Well until then we should say something to the listeners out there everybody who's listening should like keep an idea in their hearts that helps them through the day

Alice White 14:19

Yep if i if, i may I I think I have an idea of how to how to round this off. And to everyone out there listening May your lances strike true.
